The most common format I transfer is VHS. Every VHS tape I transfer is run through a professional digital time base corrector and monitored through a waveform monitor and PVM when transferring.

I have been experimenting with great results hardware upscaling to HD as seen in the keynote address video below if this is something you are interested in having done this would add to the cost of transfer.
